2013 Taylor Noelle Pinot Noir Clone 459 Pence Ranch Vineyard
Pence Ranch abuts the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. This particular clone fits so well with that AVA, I expect much from this Clone/AVA combination. This wine has amazing balance and structure.
Block 3E Pinot Noir, Dijon Clone 459 on Riper Glorie Rootstalk. This is in the front of the Vineyard towards the lower slope, greatly influenced by the fog and wind. Cool climate Pinot Noir.
Brilliant in color the Pinot reflects well ripened fruit with nice acid balance. This year it was 100% Dijon Clone 459. Stainless steel fermentation with native yeast and MLB. The Must was pressed gently upon finishing alcohol fermentation and placed into 50% new and 50% neutral 3 years old seasoned, tight grain French Oak barriques.
This wine is most defined by balance. The nose of strawberry, cherry and vanilla has a hint of spice. The taste is of red cherries and fresh raspberries. Slight smokey spice adds to the full bodied middle with a long complex length of vherry candy, coffee and earth. Pair with salmon, pork, veal, milk chocolate and soft heeses. I personally never find a pairing that does not work with this wine.
What to eat?
Pair with shellfish, chicken, duck or whatever you want. It will work. We pair Cana de Oveja cheese with this Pinot in our tasting room. Check out our cheese pairing menu here
